- Children stand in the middle of the room.
- Teacher calls a shape â "CIRCLE!"
- Children race to hop onto the circle card.
- The last child to reach it sits out for one round.
- Continue calling shapes until one child remains.
- For a gentler version, all children hop together with no elimination.
ðĄ Teacher Tips
âColour each shape differently so children can also practise colour vocabulary.
âMake the shapes large enough for multiple children to stand on.
âThis is excellent for kinaesthetic learners who learn through movement.
âUse this game at the start of a shapes unit as a pre-teaching activity.
ð Variations
âCall a colour AND a shape â "Hop on the RED CIRCLE!"
âReplace shapes with numbers or letters.
âChildren take turns being the caller.
