📋 How to Play
- Print or draw large shape cards and tape them to the floor spread around the room.
- Walk children around touching each shape and saying its name together.
- Children stand in the middle of the room.
- Teacher calls a shape — "CIRCLE!"
- Children race to hop onto the circle card.
- The last child to reach it sits out for one round.
- Continue calling shapes until one child remains.
- For a gentler version, all children hop together with no elimination.
💡 Teacher Tips
✓Colour each shape differently so children can also practise colour vocabulary.
✓Make the shapes large enough for multiple children to stand on.
✓This is excellent for kinaesthetic learners who learn through movement.
✓Use this game at the start of a shapes unit as a pre-teaching activity.
🔄 Variations
→Call a colour AND a shape — "Hop on the RED CIRCLE!"
→Replace shapes with numbers or letters.
→Children take turns being the caller.
