Mirror Mirror
Children copy the teacher exactly â actions and words â like a mirror reflection.
ð What You Need
Nothing at all â just yourself and your class. Optional: flashcards to hold up as prompts for each action or word.
ðŪ How to Play
Stand at the front of the class where all children can see you clearly.
Tell the children they are your mirror â they must copy everything you do and say.
Start with a simple action â touch your head and say "head". Children copy immediately.
Build up to full sentences â wave and say "Hello! My name is Teacher!"
Speed it up gradually â faster mirroring is more challenging and hilarious.
After a few rounds, choose a confident child to be the mirror leader instead.
ðĄ Teacher Tips
Exaggerate your actions â big, slow movements are easiest for little ones to copy.
Use vocabulary from the current lesson â body parts, emotions, animals all work brilliantly.
Pause unexpectedly to catch children who are not paying attention.
Praise children who copy quickly and accurately to motivate the others.
ð Variations
Emotion mirror â make a happy, sad or angry face and name the emotion.
Slow motion mirror â do everything in slow motion for a calming end-of-class activity.
Pair mirror â children face a partner and take turns being the mirror.
Wrong mirror â deliberately do the wrong action and see if children catch the mistake.
