📋 How to Play

  1. One student sits or stands facing the class with their back to the board.
  2. Teacher writes a vocabulary word on the board behind them.
  3. Class must describe, explain, or give examples of the word in English.
  4. They CANNOT say the word itself, spell it, or translate it.
  5. The student at the front guesses the word.
  6. If correct within the time limit, their team earns a point.
  7. Swap to a new student after each word.
  8. Set a time limit of 45-60 seconds per word.

💡 Teacher Tips

Pre-teach describing phrases — "It is a type of...", "You use it to...", "It means..."
Play in teams of 4-5 to keep everyone engaged.
Award bonus points for guessing in under 15 seconds.
Use this as a vocabulary review game at the end of a unit.

🔄 Variations

Use sentences with a gap — class acts out or describes the missing word.
The student at the front asks YES/NO questions to narrow down the answer.
Play in pairs across the table — quieter version for smaller classes.
