ð How to Play
- Give each child a bingo card with 9 vocabulary words in a 3x3 grid.
- Give children counters to mark their cards.
- Teacher calls a definition, shows a picture, or gives a clue â NOT the word itself.
- For example: "It is a fruit. It is yellow. Monkeys love it!" â children mark BANANA.
- Children mark the word on their card if they have it.
- First child to mark a full row calls "BINGO!"
- Verify by asking them to read back the three words in their winning row.
- Play again to find a second and third winner.
ðĄ Teacher Tips
âMake different bingo cards so not everyone wins at the same time.
âUse pictures instead of words on the cards for pre-readers.
âLet children make their own bingo cards by writing 9 words they choose.
âThis is a perfect end-of-lesson vocabulary review activity.
ð Variations
âCall the word directly â simpler version for beginners.
âChildren call back the definition before marking the word.
âPlay in teams â team members share one card and discuss before marking.
