๐Ÿ“‹ How to Play

  1. Write three words on the board โ€” two from the same category and one different.
  2. Example: CAT ยท DOG ยท APPLE
  3. Ask "Which one does not belong?"
  4. Children raise their hands to answer.
  5. The child must say the odd one out AND explain why โ€” "Apple because cat and dog are animals."
  6. Award points for correct answers with a reason.
  7. Make some groups tricky โ€” there may be more than one correct answer.
  8. Let children create their own odd one out groups for classmates to solve.

๐Ÿ’ก Teacher Tips

โœ“Always ask WHY โ€” the explanation is more valuable than the answer.
โœ“Make some groups deliberately ambiguous to spark discussion.
โœ“Use vocabulary from the current lesson for maximum relevance.
โœ“This game builds critical thinking and category awareness simultaneously.

๐Ÿ”„ Variations

โ†’Use pictures instead of words for non-readers.
โ†’Use four words instead of three for a harder challenge.
โ†’Teams compete โ€” fastest correct answer with explanation wins the point.
